‘icarly’ actress Jennette McCurdy announced her retirement from the acting industry. Even she will not continue her role as Sam Puckett in the upcoming season of icarly on Nickelodeon.
The 28-year star expressed her emotions in a recent episode of a podcast hosted by her called ‘Empty Inside’. She said that “I am ashamed of my past acting career”.
“My time with acting was so unsatisfactory and shameful that I resent my career in many ways, Internally I am so unsatisfied with my roles, I felt like these are so cheesy and embarrassing” she added.
“I started doing shows from my 13 to 21 year of age. Till 15 I started feeling embarrassed about my roles”. She recalled her school incident “My friends were not excited about my acting, which was embarrassing. I even can’t imagine the different experience of acting which is when you are proud about your roles and satisfied with the work you are performing”.
In a podcast with Anna Faris, a guest on ‘Empty Inside’, McCurdy said ultimately I quit acting to add more time to my writing and direction work. This is going great but I hibernated a few years ago because I didn’t want to it.
McCurdy’s mother encouraged her for acting at age of 6. She thought that finally, she was driving some success because her family didn’t have that much money.
Jennette said acting was always a hard task for me because I got nervous every time but when I controlled my nerves and get some traction, my mom passed away and I lose all my hope for acting because she was the one who always motivated me for this career.
She also confesses that kid-friendly networks undervalue the young actors. Now she Quit the acting arena and start focusing on her other talents.
