Bob Dylan is one of the most influential singers and songwriters of the 20th century. He is known for songs that chronicle political and social issues.

Bob Dylan is a folk-rock singer, who signed his first recording contract in 1961 and later emerged as one of the most influential and original voices in American music history. Bob Dylan has continued to tour and released studio albums including Together through life (2009), Tempest (2012), and Fallen Angels (2016). Dylan has received many prestigious awards including Grammy, Academy and Golden Globe award. He has also received Presidential Medal of Freedom and  Noble Prize for Literature.

The early life of Bob Dylan

Bob was on May 24, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota as Robert Allen Zimmerman and graduated from Hibbing High school in 1959. After getting influenced by the early rock stars like Little Richard, Elvis Presley, and Jerry Lee Lewis, he formed his bands and started performing folk and country songs at Local cafes as Bob Dillon.

How the actual singing started and career took on?

Bob Dylan moved to New York after getting dropped out of college. In New York, his idol the legendary folk singer Woody Guthrie was hospitalized with a rare hereditary disease of Nervous system.

He regularly visited his idol in his hospital room and somehow became regular in the folk clubs and coffee houses in the Greenwich village. He met many other musicians there and began writing songs at a very surprising pace. He also wrote a tribute song to his ailing hero “Song to woody”.

Later in 1961, he signed a recording contract with Columbia Records, after one of his performances received a rare review in  The New York Times and then he legally changed his surname to Dylan. The recording contained only two original songs but effectively proved in showcasing his traditional style singing which touched the hearts of people all around the world.

But what made Bob Dylan’s most original and poetic voice in American music history, was his album The Freewheelin which released in 1963.

And later his next album, The Times, They are a-changin’ completely and firmly established him as a definitive and ultimate songwriter in the 60s protest movement. His reputation has only increased since then after he gets involved with one of the movement’s established icons, Joan Baez, in 1963. Bob and Baez’s romantic relationship didn’t go too far and lasted only for two years but it helped and benefited both the artists immensely. While Bob wrote many songs fir Joan, Joan took Bob to many concerts to perform together. In 1964, Bob did almost 200 concerts. Eventually he became tired of his role as a folk singer, songwriter, and in 1964, he introduced his fans to his new side which was more personal and introspective. The collection of songs he introduced was less politically charged as compared to Bob’s previous efforts.

On July 25, 1965, at the New York folk Festival, Bob performed electrically for the first time and everyone was astonished and loving it. After that his albums, Highway 61, Revisited, and its song ‘Like a Rolling stone’ and some other songs, posted Dylan as one of the most innovative ones in the industry. Dylan brought together Music and literature like one else ever had, with his more than perfect voice and those unforgettable lyrics. He continuously reinvented himself for the coming three decades and also wrote the film’s soundtrack which became a hit.

Rock star life

Bob Dylan began his full time touring in the 1980s, with Tom Petty, Heartbreakers, and The Grateful Dead. In 1993, after returning to his folk roots, he received the Grammy award for his album World Gone wrong. Later in 1989, Bob was introduced in the Rock n Roll Hall of fame. “He has breakthrough the limitations and changed the face of Rock n Roll forever”, Bruce Springsteen said in the Hall of fame ceremony.

In 1997, he received the Kennedy Center Honors, which was considered as the highest award for artistic excellence. Bob was the first rockstar ever to receive that award. His 1997 album Time out of mind, won him three Grammys. In 2000, he did a song for the film Wonder Boys, named “Things have changed”, the song was awarded a golden globe and an academy award for best original song.

Later he released his chronicles volume one: the first in a three-book memoir series. He also gave his full interview in 20 years for his documentary which was released in 2005, titled No Direction Home: Bob Dylan. The documentary was directed by Martin Scorcese.

In addition to all those prestigious awards, in 2012 he received Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama and in 2016, the legend received the Noble Prize in literature.

Personal life

Apart from Baez, Bob had some romantic time also with singer Mavis Staples. He also wished to marry her, but the two never tied the knot.

Dylan and Lowndes, who got married in 1965 but divorced in 1977. They had four children together, Jakob, Jessee, Anna, and Samuel. His son Jakob, is also the lead singer of Popular rock Group Wallflowers. Bob also adopted Lowndes’s daughter, Maria, from her previous marriage. Bob is doing Music and paintings and has published several books on paintings and has exhibited his artwork around the world.

At first, the gay characters on screen came to be represented as villains or victims who committed crimes due to their homosexuality. During the II world war and the subsequent cold war, Hollywood increasingly depicted gay men and women as sadists, psychopaths, and anti-social villain. The censorship code gradually became liberalized 1950s-60s, until it was replaced by the current classification system established by the Motion Picture Association of America. Still, it was considered as a miserable, suicidal misfit.

Even after all the critics and criticism and the miserable conditions of gay characters they became more and more common since 1997. The increase introduction of gay characters in show like Spin City, ER, Buffy the Vampire Layer.

The new era of independent films started with the New Queer Cinema in the 1990s, with this the homosexuality was now started to see a different attitude toward itself. Now the homosexuality was not treated as a mental illness or a gay character as a miserable victim. They were treated as a normal part of the industry and a minority group.

Brokeback Mountain was a major benchmark on the homosexual cinema. Soon the fight for gay rights began and it paved the path for the acceptance of LGBT in different aspects of American society and the film industry.

No longer it fell-out of morals to accept two men or women fall in love with each other in a film, the comfort level began to increase and the condition of homosexual characters improved with the course of time.

The Canadian actor Logan Kari Williams is known for his roles in The Flash (2014-2015) and  When Calls the Heart (2014-2016), born on 9th April died due to the Fentanyl overdose revealed by his mother, Marlyse Williams, following a three-year battle with addiction.

Logan made his acting debut in 2014 by appearing as “Jack” in a TV movie The Color of Rain directed by Anne Wheeler.  As the time went by Logan Williams was seen playing the young version of Barry Allen in the TV series The Flash.

Marlyes said she remortgaged her home to send Williams to an expensive treatment facility  in the United States last summer.

As Logan William died just days ahead of his 17^th birthday  on 9^th April, Marlyes says she is determined to bring awareness to the opioid epidemic. “His death in not going in vin ”, she continues “he’s going to help a lot of people down the road.”  

 Marlyse says when Williams was about 9 a female casting agent in town from LA said he could easily become an actor. As Marlyes recalls, that Williams kept saying “I think I could be an actor ”. Marlyes was skeptical ”I thought this little obsession would end soon and he’ll move onto something else like kids often do,” she says.

Marlyes continues that between age 10 and 12, he gave a lot of auditions, he juggled school work with the role in the Hallmark series “When Calls the Heart”. As she continues she stated that too much auditioning and juggling school work came with too much of stress.

Marlyes discovered he was using marijuana , and from there it only escalated and in this escalation when he started using Fentanyl  was never noticed.

As she continues “Logan was always hoping to get back to acting, music or the future he wanted ”. Marlyes adds that she saw her son last on 30^th march and he said to her  ”mom,  I’m gonna get. I’m going to be better. ”  

And four days later on 3^rd April Marlyes was identifying her son’s body in a funeral home.

“It was horrific …. Horrific. Seeing him like that was as gut-wrenching as hearing that he died,” she says.

Marlyse says if she can only create awareness or help one or five or 100 people to somehow heal and get help it would create a legacy out of this tragedy of Logan’s death.

A new theory by a  Marvel fan put forward that ‘The Incredible Hulk’ Could transform into a villain in the upcoming Avengers.

Yes, you read it right. A new Marvel theory suggests that the villain of Avengers 5 movie could be ‘The Incredible Hulk’, himself. This new theory is based on the facts from a comic book run called ‘World War Hulk’, in the comic the character showed resentment towards his allies, particularly towards Tony Stark, and Doctor Strange. The character also vowed to take them down.

Bruce Baner aka The Incredible Hulk had multiple interactions with both the character of Tony Stark and Doctor Stephen Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. In the second Avengers film, Tony told the Bruce in privately about his Ultron mess up, while in Avengers: Infinity War, Bruce, after being defeated by Thanos, landed up at Doctor Strange’s doorstep.

The theory was posted on Reddit and the reasons it gave for The Hulk’s transformation are quite factual and go back to previous films of Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It suggests that Bruce was anguished after losing Natasha Romanoff in Avengers: Endgame, and after Tony stark took the credit for defeating Thanos. While his contribution– Hulk was the one who was chosen to wear the prototype gauntlet designed by stark–was forgotten.

The plotlines that are touched upon in World War Hulk comics are the combination of both of the above-mentioned points i.e the loss of Natasha and resentment towards Ironman Tony Stark and speculates that Bruce could play the villainous character in The Avengers 5.

The Avengers writers Christopher Markus and Stephen Mcfeely also revealed that the character Bruce might not be as in control of his Hulk persona as he claims he is.

They also said that Hulk after snapping his fingers was transported to the soul world, where he “The smart Hulk” came face to face to talk to Bruce.

They said that they did write this conversation between The Hulk and Bruce but it didn’t make it to the camera for the fans.

The heartthrob Robert Pattinson just turned 34 on 13th May 2020. His Original full name is Robert Douglas Thomas Pattinson. Born in London, the United Kingdom, he started acting at a very early age of 15. He used to act at the London theatre club. The news of Little Richard broke out on Saturday 9th May, leaving his fans all over the world grieving for this great loss to the music and entertainment industry. The singer died due to Bone cancer in Tullahoma, Tennessee, his family confirmed. From Good golly miss molly to Tutti Frutti to long tall sally, the star singer had an extensive list of songs people cherished throughout decades.

Little Richard was cited as an influence openly by legends like The Beatles, Elton John, Elvis Presley, and many others. Richard was inducted to Rock n Roll Hall of fame in 1986.

Initial days

Richard was born in 1932 as Richard Wayne Penniman. Richard was one of the 12 children in his house. To stand from his other siblings, he started singing. While talking to the BBC in 2008, he said: “I was the biggest head of all and I still have the biggest head.”The attention of people is what drove Richard in the beginning. He loved being noticed and talked about when he was a teenager and “When I started banging piano and singing and screaming, I got attention.” he said.

Richard’s father was a preacher, who also ran a night club and his mother was a devoted Baptist. In the 1970s while talking to the Rolling stone magazine he said: “I was born in the slums, my daddy used to sell whiskey, bootleg whiskey.”

After having some disagreements with his father, he left home in his teenage years. His father did not initially support his love for music. Little Richard also said this once ” My daddy wanted seven boys and I ruined it because I was gay. “

Afterlife Controversies & struggles

Though Richard was openly homosexual for years, he also had a relationship with women. He married Ernestine Harvin. She was a fellow fundamentalist. They both later adopted a son. Richard was also known for drugs, hard-drinking, and sex parties. After witnessing the death of his brother due to cocaine addiction, he turned to religion again and was with time, appointed as a minister in 1970.

In the late 1950s, while performing in Sydney, Australia, Richard saw a fireball crossing the sky, while he was on stage, it was Sputnik 1 satellite returning to earth. For people, it was just a nice moment in human history to capture, but it had different meanings altogether for Richard. He took it as a sign and direction from God that he should immediately change his ways and later on he turned his back on music.

Richard enrolled in the Bible college in Alabama but was soon asked to leave due to allegations that he has exposed himself to another student. Within 5 years, he was back on tours performing for people and released an album in 1961. Even later, he renounced his homosexuality, framing it as a temporary choice he had made.

Richard also openly expressed his views about the deep-rooted racial prejudice prevailing in the societies of contemporary America. He also felt that his musical influence was never addressed as it should have been and for this, he blamed deep racial prejudice in America. He expressed

this at the height of his career.

He was very positive while handling and witnessing racial prejudice, ‘ I have always thought that rock n roll brought the races together.’ the legend once told an interviewer. His fans in America and all over the world did not care that he was black even when the racism was on its peak in the west and gave him the love he deserved unequivocally.

Richard is considered as the Founder of Rock. He is called as the innovator, the originator.

Little Richard was an electric performer, exuberant persona, a bellow vocalist. He was such an all-round force of nature, that popular music had not seen before he emerged in the late 1950s. Most famous and legendary artists like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix idolized Richard. The key part of their act’s DNA might have gone missing if Richard

wouldn’t have been there.

When he used to sing standing at his piano, with his vibrant hair, and with full-throated voice, songs like Tutti Frutti, Long tall sally, Good golly miss molly, it always felt like a fresh air ripping through your body.

Many Legends wrote for him on his death. We are mentioning a few. The former Beatles drummer Sir Ringo Starr said: ‘God bless Little Richard, one of my all-time musical heroes.”Loss of a true giant’ said Chic co-founder Nile Rodgers. While ‘his music would last forever’ said Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys.
