We remember the tragic story Shikara (2020) Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s directorial which was released last year; brought to cinemas some forgotten stories related to the actual events. Here after a year he is back with another directorial venture titled, ‘Baarish‘. Shikara had new faces and talents like that of Aadil Khan and Sadia as protagonists. Shikara was based on the tragic turn of events in Kashmir in 1980s, infamously known as the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits.
Rumour has it that Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s new venture is going to be something very different from Shikara in terms of narrative style and perhaps the genre.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra believes in experimenting with his abilities and giving his audience something they have sort of never experienced before. In the virtual session held at JLF 2021, he revealed in a conversation with Vani Tripathi and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) that he is planning to create a flick via Baarish. The movie’s plot line is said to be about a couple in the middle of nowhere wishing to kill each other. It is a bit astounding as it does not seem to be of the same genre as Shikara. It is very hard to believe that someone who directed a tragic drama on the exodus will direct something like Shikara.
Chopra strongly suggested that it would be a boring experience for him if he does not experiment or try new things when it comes to his directing skills.
Baarish is said to be a psychological thriller and considering the movies Vidhu Vinod Chopra had his hands meddled in before, this seems to be his cup of tea. The other movies that he has directed are, Hrithik Roshan & Sanjay Dutt starring Mission Kashmir 2000 and Amitabh Bachchan in and as Eklavya 2007.
We do not have much information on the new project as the script and cast are yet to be final. Let us see what happens next!
