“Transgender women are women” Daniel Radcliffe’s strong response to J.K Rowling’s Controversial tweets about Transgender.

Daniel Radcliffe is known for “Harry Potter” took strong ground in support of transgender rights, as on Monday his strong response to the creator of the Harry Potter franchise J.K Rowling’s controversial tweets about transgender and gender identity was clearly seen. 

On Saturday after ridiculing a news headline Rowling was accused of trans-phobia, as she wrote “‘People who menstruate’. I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumber ?  Wimpund? Woomed? ”. She didn’t stop there as she again comments later that day writing “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased.”

To these tweets of Rowlings Daniel responded in clear disagreement to her view of sex and gender by saying “Transgender women are women,” he continued “Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of Transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care association who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either of I or Jo.” To which he also adds that “Certain press outlets will probably want to paint this as an fighting between me and J.K. Rowling.” He continued by saying that “it is really not what this is about , nor is it what’s important.”

Rowling was widely criticized for her comments as trans-phobic by many which included LGBTQ artists, activists and organizations. Rowling was even accused of being “TERF” (Transgender Exclusionary Radical Feminist), to which she hit back by saying that “Women – hate is eternal”.

Radcliffe acknowledged that “While Jo is unquestionably responsible for the course my life has taken” but he also accepts that he felt compelled to say something at this moment.

While Radcliffe explains how the 78% of the transgender and non-binary youth is reported of being discriminated just because of their gender identity as per the reports of the Trevor Project. He clearly says that “It’s clear that we need to do more to support transgenders and non-binary people, not invalidate their identity, and not cause further harm.”

Radcliffe even apologised to the Harry Potter fans by saying “To all the people who now feel that their experience of the books has been tarnished or diminished, I am deeply sorry for the pain these comments have caused you,” he adds, ”If these books taught you that love is the strongest force in the universe… if you believe that a particular character is trans, non-binary, or gender fluid, or that they are gay or bisexual; if you found anything in these stories that resonated with you and helped you at any time in your life—then that is between you and the book that you read, and it is sacred.”

This wasn’t first time for J.K Rowling’s for being accused of being trans-phobic as her social media posts sometimes project the most opposite message.
