Samantha Diaz “Just Sam” wins the American Idol 2020

Samantha Diaz 21 years old aka “Just Sam” Liberian-American singer wins the American Idol 2020. Just Sam started her career as a singer and gave several stage shows. In her initial audition she swept judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie their feet.

American Idol a reality show based on singing competition premiered on February 16, 2020 on ABC, with Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie as judges was going to be challenging as it was upended by the corona virus pandemic which involved the contestant performing and  at-home judging from the judges  but also announcing the shows winner. Casting of votes for this season was done and completed virtually for this season.

Top 7 previously performed a tribute to their respective mothers on the Mother’s day , before heading to the finale. Just Sam, Arthur Gunn, Dillon James, Louis Knight, Francisco Martin and Julia Gargano performed on their favourite songs from Disney Films. 

Very soon the 7 contestants went to 5 as Knight and Gargano were eliminated. The standing 5 were given the opportunity to perform one last time before the voting closed.

Just Sam impressed the judges with a powerful display of take on performance on season one winners Kelly Clarkson’s “stronger” and with the song “Rise up” she left no choice but to make Bryan say that the song “Rise up ” was built for her.

Her main competitor Arthur Gunn came in high and hot with Gavin DeGraw’s “ I don’t want to be ” and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” to which Richie comments that he had the best in style and personality. ‘Dim the lights, here we go,’ but..we can’t, ” he said, smiling as he looked around his room.

He announced that Gunn was one of the finalists, and soon he announced Just Sam the winner. Leaving Just Sam stunned and shocked with all the excitement of winning the show.
