The critics have slammed the ‘WAP’ of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion for explicit lyrics; to which Cardi B with a straight face said that she doesn’t have any shame about the lyrics and the track.
Cardi B appeared on the Australia’s ‘The Kyle & Jackie’ show to talk about the new collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion and the track WAP.
While the haters gonna hate the song, Cardi B has once again proved that she doesn’t have any time for the haters. As Cardi defends the racy lyrics of the track she explained that; “The people that the song bothers are usually conservatives or very religious people”.
“But my thing is..; I grew up listening to this type of music. To other people it might be vulgar; but to me, it’s almost really normal”, is how Cardi B explained it.
After the release of ‘WAP’ it debuted as No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, even after the criticism about its explicit lyrics. And just like Cardi B said if people didn’t want to hear it, the song won’t have done so well.
However Cardi B also clarified that it goes without saying that her music is for adults. Cardi B clearly said that she won’t let her toddler hear this song cause it’s for adults.
“No, of course I don’t want my child to listen to this song and everything – but adults only”, is how Cardi B expressed it.
However looking at the Billboard Hot 100 Chart; Cardi B expressed herself and somehow slammed the critics also by saying; “You know something? It’s what people wanna hear. If people didn’t wanna hear it; if they were so afraid to hear it, it wouldn’t be doing so well”.
And isn’t that true!!
Around this month Cardi B explained ELLE how she wants her music to always make women feel empowered. “My music is always going to make women feel like a bad B***h. when you make a women feel like she is the baddest b***h in the room; to me, that’s female empowerment”, is how she clearly expressed herself.
And to be true there are many fan how clearly applaud her and Megan for putting out a sex positive and female empowered message.
‘WAP’ isn’t only criticised for its sexually explicit lyrics, but also for the song’s video too. The song’s video features a cameo which highlights Kylie Jenner for a extend period of time; while the minority star for a short period of screen time. And for this both Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion were hit by a backlash. However The Rapper has defended this too.
