The film industry is not an easy place to be in especially with so many eyes on you and expectations which if not fulfilled lead to distress and too much criticism for one. With paparazzi on your tail and cameras stalking you and when it comes to fans with over expectations or mental issues the risk of being in the harm’s way increases a tad fast then we can imagine with death threats to the actors but to think one would get death threat over a video game is a little too extreme.

The American voice actress and voice director who provide voices for English language versions of animations, video games and anime, Laura Bailey shared death threats from unsatisfied fans which she received on twitter, gamers who were not happy with her character. Laura Bailey has voiced Abby in the “The Last of Us 2”.

On 3rd July 2020 Laura Bailey posted the screen shots of the death threats she received. Bailey captioned her post as, “Man. I try to only post positive stuff on here… but sometimes this just gets s little overwhelming. I black out some of the words cuz, ya know, spoilers. Side not. Thank you to all the people sending me positive messages to balance it out. It means more than I can say.”

The threat she received were vicious and many were directly targeted to her and her family. One of the unsatisfied gamer wrote: “I’m going to kill you because you [blacked out] in the last of us part2.” Another one wrote: “I’m going to find where you live and slaughter you for what you did to [Blacked out]. Mark my words.” With terrible and horrifying messages of death threats towards her family saying: “I hope your parents die by hard cancer for killing my [Blacked out]”, and another of the threat read: “I will find you and I will kill your kids for that just wait for that.” Many came front in support of the voice actor Laura Bailey, an Irish YouTuber  named Jacksepticeye replied to Bailey’s post by saying, “I am so sorry you have to deal with this!”, voice actor and director Liam O’Brien also came front to support Laura Bailey writing, “you are an exemplary human being. A sublime actor. A wonderful mother. And an amazing friend. I know the crueller voice often standout, but oceans more know you as the incredible women you truly are.”

The screenwriter and director who created the mini-series “Chernobyl” Craig Mazin also came in support by writing, “They are few, and when they write those things they feel very little. We are many and when we write these things, we feel a LOT. Your work was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t have loved your performance more. You are GOOD, Bailey. You are good.”
