The lead counsel of the actor, David Sherborne claims that the Hollywood star has come to court to clear his reputation.

Sherborne in his written opening remarks said that the court needs to decide “whether the allegations published by the defendants are true.”

“If its finds that they are untrue, as we say they are, then the court will proceed to make an award of damages” he added. Sherborne said that, “MS Heard has invented these stories of serious violence.”

In the written submission from the parties were released as the hearing began, Johnny Depp claimed that Heard had repeatedly punched him in the face and partially sever his finger by throwing a vodka bottle.

While in the opening not of Sasha Wass QC barrister for News Group Newspaper said that “the defendants will demonstrate that the description of Mr Depp as a ‘wife-beater’ is entirely accurate and truthful”.

“They will show that the sting of the article is correct – namely that the claimant beat his wife causing her to suffer significant injury and on occasions leading to her fearing for her life” she added.

As she continued she said “This defence is supported by witness testimony, medical evidence, photographs, video, audios recordings, digital evidence and Mr Depp’s own texts.”

The trials continued.
